BOYS

Erin Henderson

Aberdeen, football

The Maryland-bound quarterback-linebacker threw two touchdown passes and made a critical interception to lead Aberdeen to a come-from-behind, 23-20 Class 2A East Region semifinal win against Edgewood - the first playoff win in school history. Down 20-0 in the second quarter, Henderson (8-for-16 for 107 yards) made a 28-yard scoring pass to Devron Galloway and a 10-yarder to Ryan McVey to bring Aberdeen within 20-14.

Henderson (6 feet 4, 225 pounds) then returned an interception 11 yards to the Edgewood 34-yard line, setting up the game-winning 7-yard touchdown run by Carl Stokes.

For the season, Henderson has 1,298 passing yards for 13 touchdowns and 727 rushing yards for six scores. On defense, he has 127 tackles, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

GIRLS

Stacey Krebs

Liberty, volleyball

The junior hitter enjoyed a dominating week at the net to lead the Lions to their first Class 2A state championship and the metro area's top ranking.

After recording 10 kills and three blocks in a three-game sweep against Owings Mills in Wednesday's semifinal match, Krebs finished with 13 kills in a five-game win over defending champion Glenelg in Saturday's championship. The win completed a 19-0 season for the Lions and ended the Gladiators' 38-match winning streak.

With the title match tied 1-1, Krebs got two straight kills late in the third game to tie it at 24 before the Lions came away with a 26-24 win. Krebs, used as a middle and outside hitter, averaged 3.1 kills per game for the Lions, who captured their fifth straight Carroll County crown this season.
