November 19, 2003

The driver of a tractor-trailer killed when his rig overturned on Interstate 95 in Arbutus on Monday was identified yesterday by state police as a Vermont man.

Todd G. Martensen, 51, of Rutland, who was hauling bales of paper, was southbound on I-95 near Interstate 195 about 3:40 p.m. when his rig jack-knifed, struck a Honda Accord in front of him and overturned into a ditch. Martensen died at the scene, state police said.

The driver of the Honda, John T. Clendenin, 40, of Bowie, was released after a precautionary examination at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, police said.
