WINE OF THE WEEK

November 19, 2003|By Michael Dresser

2001 Hedges Cellars CMS, Columbia Valley ($13). This blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah from Washington state offers a lot of bang for the buck in a medium-bodied, ready-to-drink red wine. It features vibrant blackberry and black-cherry flavors with a touch of spices and smoked meat. It's not especially complex, but it goes down easily and would pair well with a wide variety of red meat and pasta dishes.
