Health department offers inspections of child safety seats

The county health department offers year-round child car-safety seat inspections at three locations:

Brooklyn Park Health Center, 300 Hammonds Lane, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the third Thursday of the month. By appointment only. 410-222-6620.

Odenton Health Center, 1370 Odenton Road, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. the second Thursday and fourth Tuesday of the month. No appointment required. 410-222-6660.

Parole Health Center, 1950 Drew St., Annapolis, 9 a.m. to noon, the first and third Tuesday of the month. By appointment only. 410-222-7249.

In recent inspections, 85 percent of child seats were found to be improperly installed.

Hospital expands hours for blood donations

Anne Arundel Medical Center is seeking donors to help ease a blood shortage.

The medical center's Blood Donor Center has expanded its hours for donor appointments to:

Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Tuesdays, 7:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., with evening hours by appointment.

Wednesdays, 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with evening hours by appointment.

Thursdays, 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Fridays, 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The donor center is on Level One of the Acute Care Pavilion, 2001 Medical Parkway. Information: 443-481-4215.

N. Arundel Hospital offers blood pressure screenings

North Arundel will offer blood pressure screenings at its Arundel Mills storefront, between entrance No. 4 and Jillian's:

Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Nov. 25, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

AAMC offers yoga classes for beginners and experts

Anne Arundel Medical Center offers yoga instruction. Classes, unless noted, meet on the second floor of the Sajak Pavilion:

"Beginning Yoga," 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

"Continuing Yoga" (experience required), 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Class meets at 25 Shaw St., Annapolis.

"Yoga for Beginning and Advanced Students," 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays.

"Yoga Mid-Day" (beginning and advanced), 11 a.m. and noon Tuesdays and noon Wednesdays.

"Weekend Stretch" (beginning and advanced), 5 p.m. Fridays.

"Gentle Yoga," 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays.

"Yoga for the Young at Heart," for age 40 and older, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays.

"Yoga for Stress Management," 6:15 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Thursdays.

"Yoga for Weight Loss," 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays. Class meets at 25 Shaw St.

"Ashtanga, or Power Yoga" (yoga coupled with breathing exercises). Call for date and time.

"The Mix" (a combination of yoga and Pilates), 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays and 7:15 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Saturdays.
