ISABELLE MARIE BAUER GORDON, of Catonsville, Ellicott City and Ocean Pines, Maryland, passed away on November 13, 2003, following a second stroke. Born in Sterling, Illinois on July 11, 1916, she grew up on farms in Illinois and Iowa, and graduated from Sterling High School. She worked in Washington, D.C., prior to WWII, joining the Red Cross shortly after hostilities commenced. She served in North Africa, where she met and married her husband, Ian. Following their marriage, in Algeria, in November 1943, they also lived in Sicily and Sardinia until her return to the United States in 1944. She had a career as a purchasing agent at Aircraft Armaments, Inc., in Cockeysville, MD., and for the Baltimore City government until her retirement. Isabelle and Ian always enjoyed travel. Upon retirement, they visited extensively in the Carribean, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii and Japan. Until she suffered a stroke late in 1999, they enjoyed their vacation home in Ocean Pines, Maryland. Isabelle resided at Catered Living of Ocean Pines for the past two and one-half years. Here husband Ian passed away last December, shortly after their 59th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her sister Lillian Tousley of Sterling, two sons, a daughter, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday November 19, 2003 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1301 N. Philadelphia Avenue, Ocean City, MD 21842. The family will be receiving visitors at the church during the hour preceeding the service.
