Two men died as the result of accidents on state roads this week.

A bicyclist was struck and killed by a car Thursday evening on Marley Neck Boulevard, Anne Arundel County police said.

Robert Edward Travers, 40, was riding his bike on the north shoulder of the road when an automobile swerved and struck him.

The driver of the car, Maria Luisa Osterman of Glen Burnie, pulled off the road and motioned to another motorist to stop and help. According to police reports, Travers, who had no fixed address, died at the scene.

An Ellicott City man died Wednesday night after his car struck another on Bay Dale Drive, police said.

John Papadias, 30, was attempting to make a left turn from Bay Dale Drive onto the ramp for U.S. 50 westbound when he failed to give the right-of-way to an oncoming vehicle, police said.

Papadias' Toyota Corolla collided head-on with the Chevrolet minivan traveling southbound on Bay Dale Drive.

The minivan driver, Sara Alice Queen, 26, and front-seat passenger Jean Sutphin, both of Arnold, each suffered minor injuries and were treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center and released.

Papadias was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, police said, where doctors pronounced him dead.
