Hospital names Gaynes medical and dental staff president

Dr. Lynne A. Gaynes of Columbia has been appointed medical and dental staff president at Laurel Regional Hospital.

She served two terms as chairwoman of the hospital's department of medicine and two terms as its vice president of medical staff.

In 1985, she joined the practice of Lance, Gaynes, Zavadil, Argento & Hagen, an endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism practice with offices in Columbia and Laurel.

Shaw, of Ellicott City, joins Evergreen.cfo

Frederick S. Shaw of Ellicott City has joined the Columbia firm of Evergreen.cfo, a provider of out-sourced financial services and small-business accounting.

He will assist clients with financial-statement analysis and business strategy, financing, cash flow management, budget preparation and other services.

Until recently, he was principal and owner of an accounting firm providing management, advisory and other services to startup and middle-size businesses. He is an adjunct faculty member at Howard Community College.

Evergreen.cfo is a division of McLean, Koehler, Sparks & Hammond, which has offices in Columbia, Frederick, Towson and Westminster.

Halpin recognized as Volunteer of Year

Kirk Halpin, a business and real estate attorney with Rosenberg, Proutt, Funk & Greenberg LLP and a former Columbia Council representative, was recently honored by Kings Contrivance village as 2003 Volunteer of the Year.
