Ethel Leola Boyd, 66, active church member

Ethel Leola Boyd, an active churchgoer, died Wednesday of heart failure at her Park Heights home. She was 66.

Ethel Johnson was born and raised in Baltimore. After she graduated from Frederick Douglass High School, she worked as a housekeeper and child-care provider.

Her marriage in 1961 to Walter E. Moorman Sr. ended in divorce. She married Samuel Boyd in the 1980s.

Her daughter Donna L. Moorman of Baltimore remembers her mother as a good-spirited woman who was quick to make others laugh. She said her mother found fulfillment as an active member of New St. Mark Baptist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Boyd enjoyed watching suspense and mystery movies, sewing and seeking what her daughter called "hidden treasures" at thrift stores.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at New St. Mark Baptist Church, 3905 Springdale Ave., Baltimore.

In addition her husband and daughter, she is survived by another daughter, Wanda K. Johnson of Baltimore; three sons, Wendell P. Johnson of Baltimore, Charles D. Moorman of Baltimore and Walter E. Moorman Jr. of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Rosalee Scott, Gertrude Brooke, Elaine Hubbard and Laura Claiborne, all of Baltimore; a brother, Charles Johnson of Baltimore; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
