Who'll Have The Last Laugh?

November 10, 2003

A new year is just around the corner, time to assess, reconsider, make changes. That's true for people, and for institutions like The Suns comics pages.

For 2004, we plan to revamp both our daily and Sunday comics pages, adding new strips and weeding out others. But before we do, we want your advice.

Below are listed 12 comics that currently appear in The Sun. By Jan. 1, at least half of them may have to leave the comics pages to make way for the changes we have planned.

Tell us by mail, e-mail or online which six of them you would eliminate. There's also a write-in vote on the ballot: You can suggest one other comic not on the list that you would eliminate instead.

We need your vote by Nov. 18.

Need an added incentive? Everyone who votes (and gives us a phone number or e-mail address) will be eligible to win the new, two-volume set The Complete Far Side 1980-1994, a collection of all of Gary Larsons classic Far Side cartoons, a $135 value. A winner will be picked at random.

To vote: By mail: Mark and clip out the ballot and send to Comics Poll, c/o Features Department, The Baltimore Sun, 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore 21278.

By e-mail: List the six you'd eliminate (or substitute one with a write-in choice) and e-mail to sun.features@baltsun.com, attn: Sun Comics Poll.

Online: Vote electronically at www.sunspot.net/comicspoll.

Please vote only once -- only one vote per person (or e-mail) will be counted. We'll announce any changes we make before year's end.

Thanks for your help.

See you in the funny papers.
