Dog park in Bel Air to open Saturday

November 09, 2003

The Harford County Parks and Recreation Department will open the Ma and Pa Dog Park at 10 a.m. Saturday. The park is near the Harford County Equestrian Center and the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail Parking Lot on North Tollgate Road in Bel Air.

A dog park is a fenced area where dogs are permitted to run off-leash and socialize. The Bel Air park, which will have separate areas for small and large dogs, will be open from dawn to dusk seven days a week.

Each dog must have a current rabies vaccination and display a green Harford County dog license on its collar. Owners of dogs that do not have a license should call 410-638-3305 for information about obtaining the tag before they can go to the park.

Dog park regulations will govern safety, cleanup and supervision of pets. The site will be visited by the Ma and Pa Trail monitors during their rounds, but visitors will generally be expected to police themselves.

Information: Northern District Recreational Specialist Rob Bailey, 410-638-3616.
