Medline Industries, a Mundelein, Ill.-based manufacturer and distributor of health care supplies, will break ground tomorrow in the construction of a 300,000-square-foot distribution center near Aberdeen.

The company located in Harford County about 18 months ago, according to Merrie Street, a spokeswoman for County Executive James M. Harkins. She said the company has been operating out of rented space in the Belcamp area.

The $12 million structure is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of next year. At that time, 40 workers at the Belcamp plant will relocate to Aberdeen.

Medline plans to eventually expand the new plant to 400,000 square feet and add another 60 workers. No date has been set for that expansion.

The company operates 22 other distribution plants, five manufacturing sites and six customer service centers throughout the company. The Aberdeen center will serve the Mid-Atlantic region.
