Susan K. Mona, 61, electrical firm executive

Susan K. Mona, an executive and co-founder of an electrical contracting firm, died of cancer Nov. 1 at her Edgewater home. She was 61.

Born Susan Kathleen Denison in Washington, she was a 1960 graduate of Oxon Hill High School in Prince George's County.

After her marriage in 1961 to Vincent P. Mona, she and her husband founded Mona Electric Group, with offices in Clinton and Linthicum. She was senior vice president and treasurer of the business, which has 500 employees.

She also served on the board of the Andrew Mona Foundation, a charitable organization she founded after the death of her son, Andrew M. Mona, of cancer in 1991. She also helped bring the Christmas in April program to Prince George's in 1989.

Services were held Tuesday.

In addition to her husband, survivors include four sons, Christopher P. Mona of Severna Park, Mark A. Mona of Crownsville, Scott M. Mona of Dunkirk and Matthew Denison Mona of Annapolis; a daughter, Melissa Berry of Meriden, Conn.; her mother, Evelyn Levrio of Solomons; four brothers, Frank Denison of Waldorf, Dwight Denison of Yorktown, Pa., Duane Denison of Annapolis and John Denison of Fort Washington; a sister, Pat Gallahan of Clinton; and nine grandchildren. Another son, Matthew Dwight Mona, died in 1966.
