Parish school slates its 30th `Taste and Share'

St. John's Parish Day School in Ellicott City will hold its 30th "Taste and Share" from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. at the school.

Those who attend will have a chance to taste more than 100 appetizers, entrees, desserts and delicacies. Recipes for all the foods will be available in the 2003 Taste and Share Cookbook, which also will include favorite recipes from the past 30 years chosen by the school's staff. The event will include a craft fair, open from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with more than 20 exhibitors.

Admission is $15 and includes a copy of the cookbook, which can also be purchased separately for $10. Tickets are available at the school, 9130 Frederick Road. Strollers are not permitted.

Glenwood church sets yuletide bazaar tomorrow

Shepherd of the Glen Lutheran Church, 14552 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood, will hold its 11th Christmas Bazaar, "Star Over the Stable," from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

Crafts and baked goods will be for sale. Gourmet gift baskets, teachers' baskets and nearly new gift tables are also planned.

Food from recipes in the new church cookbook, Feed My Flock, will be available at $6.50. A "Children's Make It & Take It Room" will also be available.

Holiday Bazaar tomorrow at St. Paul's Episcopal

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 16457 Old Frederick Road, Mount Airy, will hold its Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Baked goods, jellies and candies, dried flower arrangements, handmade Christmas tree ornaments, crafts and gifts and a silent auction are planned.

Christmas Bazaar planned Nov. 15 at Fulton parish

St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Fulton will hold its Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15.

Handmade items, Christmas crafts, a white elephant sale and silent auction are planned.

The church is on Route 216 west, off U.S. 29.

Buddhist perspective on happiness to be topic

Buddhist nun Kelsang Osel will speak about the Buddhist perspective on how to be happy from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, through Nov. 18, at Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way, Columbia.

Registration is not necessary. The cost is $8 a class.

Banquet today to mark retirement of bishop

Long Reach Church of God in Columbia will hold a formal banquet as the culminating event in its weeklong Transition and Retirement Celebration honoring the retirement of Bishop Robert S. Davis Sr. and his wife, Doris.

The banquet, which celebrates their 30 years of service as senior pastor and first lady of the church, will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Turf Valley Resort & Conference Center in Ellicott City.

A Passing of the Baton ceremony, when Davis will relinquish the role of senior pastor to his son, Robert "Robbie" Davis Jr., will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The Davises will retire Dec. 31.
