Asbury United Methodist Church, a historic African-American congregation in Annapolis, will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its founding at events today through Sunday.

Asbury United Methodist Church, a historic African-American congregation in Annapolis, will celebrate the 200th anniversary of its founding at events today through Sunday.
An open house will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the church, 87 West St. At 8 p.m., members will present a program of music and dramatic readings.
A banquet will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. tomorrow at the Comfort Inn Conference Center, Route 301, Bowie. Tickets are $45.
At the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, the Rev. Walter E. Middlebrooks will unveil a commemorative plaque. The congregation will also be holding its 29th annual homecoming celebration for former members who have moved from the area.
