MARINERS: Declined 2004 option on OF John Mabry.

METS: Named Rick Peterson pitching coach, Rick Waits minor league pitching coordinator and Bobby Floyd third base coach.

PIRATES: Named Rene Gayo director of Latin America scouting.

RANGERS: Named Andy Hawkins pitching coach.

NCAA: Placed Morehouse College on five years' probation for violations relating to amateurism, eligibility, financial aid and clearinghouse certification in the men's soccer program.

UMBC: F Derek McElligott, M Michael Joseph, M Danny Mongello and FB Marcus Gross were named to America East first team for men's soccer.

McDANIEL: Kim Camponelli and Kristin Talarovich were named to Centennial Conference first team for field hockey.

NAVY: F Stacy Finley, MF Stephanie Parker and D Xochitl Piedra were named to Patriot League first team for women's soccer. G Kim Bonafede and F Amelia Sheveland were named to second team.
