The South Carroll Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the community room of Carrolltown Center in Eldersburg.

Neil Ridgely, Carroll County zoning administrator, will be the guest speaker.

Country fair to include farmers' market, bake shop

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will hold a country fair from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Parish House, 7609 Main St., Sykesville.

The expanded fair will feature a farmers' market with homemade apple butter, mincemeat, jellies, country sausage, nuts and dried fruit that can be pre-ordered for pick-up at the fair; a bake shop; and a craft shop.

A collectibles and New-to-You Shop will offer gently used items; a drawing for a cathedral window-style coverlet will be held at 2 p.m.; and A Taste of Heaven cookbooks will be for sale.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday's lunch will feature chicken corn soup, hamburger, cheeseburger or tuna salad platters. Saturday's menu will include ham or chicken salad platters with sweet potato muffins.

New this year is a spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. The cost is $7 for adults and $4.50 for children.

Church's holiday bazaar to feature crafts, food

Oakland United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas in the Country holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the church hall at Oakland Mill and Mineral Hill roads, Eldersburg.

Crafts, food, baked goods, wreaths, pinecone baskets and holiday gifts and decorations will be featured. Soup and sandwiches also will be available.

Church to hold breakfast; yard sale to benefit camp

Calvary United Methodist Church will hold a pancake breakfast and Youth Fellowship yard sale from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, 3939 Gamber Road, Gamber.

The breakfast will feature buckwheat and buttermilk pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, hominy, stewed apples and beverages. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for ages 6 to 12, and free for age 5 and younger.

The yard sale will benefit Camp Hope.

Theater troupe to hold open auditions for play

The Tree of Life Theatre Troupe will hold open auditions for its winter play, Anne of Avonlea, at 11 a.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Faith Lutheran Church, Liberty Road and West Hemlock Drive, Eldersburg.

Roles are open for males and females elementary school age to adults. Production and stage help positions also are open to interested volunteers.

Anne of Avonlea is the sequel to L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables.

Fitness classes to begin at Carrolltown Center

Freedom Area Recreation Council will offer adult fitness classes beginning Sunday at Health and Fitness in Carrolltown Center, Eldersburg.

Classes include step and dance aerobics, toning, senior aerobics, prenatal, belly dance and Metabolift.

Classes are held mornings and evenings daily. Fees are reasonable and there is no membership requirement. Baby-sitting is included.

Basket bingo planned at Gamber fire hall

Gamber and Community Volunteer Fire Company will hold a Longaberger basket bingo Nov. 14 at the fire hall on Route 32 at Niner Road.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., early bird games start at 6:50 p.m. and regular games begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. All baskets will be filled.

Refreshments will be sold. Junior, senior and jackpot games, raffles and door prize drawings will be held.

Lions sells coupon book, fruit to raise money

The Freedom District Lions Club is holding two fund-raisers.

The club is selling the 2004 Entertainment Coupon Book for $26. To purchase books, call Bob Valis at 410-795-1211.

The annual fruit sale offers naval oranges, pink grapefruit and ruby red grapefruit in 2/5 bushel boxes for $11.50. A "trio" gift package of 12 each oranges, grapefruit and red delicious apples is available for $20.

Sykesville: Shawn and Joanna Casson are the parents of a 9.4-pound daughter, Emma Grace, born at 10:19 p.m. Oct. 9 at Carroll Hospital Center.
