Brian Oliner joins Columbia law firm as a litigator

Brian L. Oliner has joined the Columbia law firm of Davis, Agnor, Rapaport & Skalny LLC as an attorney in its litigation group.

He is a former assistant attorney general for Maryland, representing the state comptroller in business and tax litigation and other matters.

Oliner is a member of the litigation and taxation sections of the Maryland Bar Association, the Future Planning Committee of the Iran Cultural and Educational Center and an officer and founding director of Children of Persia, a nonprofit charity assisting needy children.

Transportation group honors Kirchner

Richard "Dick" Kirchner, an advocate of transportation services for elderly and disabled residents of Howard County, has received the Friend of Transportation Award from the Transportation Association of Maryland at its conference in Ocean City.

Since his retirement as deputy director of the state Office on Aging, Kirchner has volunteered for the Columbia Association's Senior Advisory Board, the Public Transportation Board, Vision Howard County and other groups and agencies.

He is a founder of Transportation Advocates, a citizens group.
