Today

No. 7 South Carroll (7-1) at Catoctin (6-2)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: South Carroll will likely clinch a Class 2A playoff berth with a win tonight. The pass-oriented Cavaliers have averaged 43 points a game in winning five straight, including last week's dominating win over regional rival Walkersville. Catoctin features a potent one-two punch in running backs Joe Rakoski (580 yards) and Dave Burrier (529 yards), and last week scored 50 in a win over Williamsport.

Urbana (7-1) at Francis Scott Key (5-3)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: This is a must-win if Key has any chance of qualifying for the postseason. The Eagles sit fifth in the Class 2A West region, but the top four teams advance. Struggling with injuries, however, the run-oriented team has lost three of four and has scored just 14 points over the past two weeks. Urbana, coming off a 40-6 win over Westminster, has outscored opponents by an average of 38-8.

Westminster (1-7) at Liberty (3-5)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: After facing one of the state's most brutal schedules this season, Westminster will have the chance to play more reasonable competition in Liberty, a team the Owls beat, 52-14, a year ago. Liberty needs a win to have a chance for its first .500 season since 2000.

Middletown (3-5) at Winters Mill (1-7)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: Middletown, a Class 2A state finalist last season before being broken up by graduation, is looking for its third straight win, following victories over Thomas Johnson and Century. Winters Mill, approaching the end of its first varsity season, recorded its first win - against Boonsboro two weeks ago - before losing to powerful Linganore, 56-7.

North Carroll (3-5) at Frederick (4-4)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: North Carroll's enthusiasm is high after its first back-to-back wins since 1999. The Panthers will try to make it three straight against a Frederick team coming off a 24-7 win over Liberty. With a win, North Carroll, which started 1-5, still would have a shot at a .500 season. The Cadets won last year's matchup, 13-7.

Century (2-6) at Walkersville (6-2)

Time: 7 p.m.

Outlook: Walkersville will be looking to get back on the winning track following last week's 35-16 loss to South Carroll. The Lions need a victory to solidify the fourth and final playoff seed in Class 2A West. Century will attempt to break a three-game losing streak following back-to-back victories over North Carroll and Winters Mill.
