Sam's Creek church plans gift bazaar tomorrow

Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren will hold its 20th annual holiday bazaar from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. tomorrow in Baile Hall next to the sanctuary.

Handcrafted gifts, decorations, tree ornaments and everyday household items will be featured. Baskets, metalware, baby accessories and country-theme items will be available.

Baked goods and produce, plants and a light lunch also will be featured.

The church is at 2736 Marston Road (Route 407).

Community festival set for Mount Airy

Warren United Methodist Church will hold a community festival from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow at Watkins Park on Route 27 in Mount Airy.

The festival will feature family activities, including crafts, food and gospel music. A Halloween costume contest will also be held.

Food will include pigfeet dinners for $10, chicken dinners for $7, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, sodas and dessert.

Table space is available for craft vendors for $15.

Lisbon area churches to hold holiday bazaar

The Lisbon area community churches will hold a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Lisbon fire hall on Woodbine Road.

A book table, Gourmet to Go, Entertainment Books, Pizza Hut discount cards and raffles will be featured.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, a participant in the community bazaar, will hold its own holiday event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 8 in the church hall at 16457 Old Frederick Road near Woodbine.

The bazaar will offer handmade tree ornaments, crafts, gifts and decorations, holiday foods and lunch. Raffle tickets for a basket of cheer and hand-crocheted and embroidered afghan will be sold.

Winning raffle tickets will be picked at the church's annual free lasagna dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 22.

Mount Airy fire company plans family-style dinner

The Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company will hold a family-style turkey, oyster and ham dinner from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the firemen's activities building.

The cost is $11 and $6 for children 6 to 12.

The activities building is on the carnival grounds at Twin Arch Road and Route 27.

South Carroll High food drive begins Monday

The South Carroll High School Media Center is holding its annual food drive to benefit Carroll County Food Sunday. The drive will run Monday to Nov. 17.

Students and others are encouraged to donate nonperishable food items. Last year's drive collected more than 800 items.

A grocery cart will be set up in the media center for food items. As an incentive, the media center staff will provide doughnuts and juice to students in the homeroom that collects the most food.

The school is at 1300 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Chamber of Commerce to hold drive in Mt. Airy

The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce will hold a membership drive and networking event from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Century Ford on Twin Arch Road.

Chamber members and all those doing business in and around Mount Airy are welcome. The 2004 membership dues will be available at a discounted rate of $65.

Food and refreshments will be provided by New York J&P Pizza. A snowblower from Tractor Supply Co. will be given as a door prize.

Mount Airy library offers Halloween, other activities

The Mount Airy library branch, 705 Ridge Ave., will offer:

Story Time for all ages (ages 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 11 a.m. today and 11 a.m. tomorrow on "Tricks and Treats," and 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday on "Woolly Sheep."

"Trick or Treat at the Library" from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for all ages. Children are invited to drop by in costume for a treat.

"All Aboard the Alphabet Train: Excellent E" for all ages at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The program celebrates the alphabet in stories and songs.

"Connecting With Kids - Yours, Mine and Ours" for teens and adults at 7 p.m. Thursday. Marion Baratucci from the Carroll County Training and Development Center will address common issues divorced families face as they attempt to create working relationships with their former spouse and create a secure environment for their children. Parents can come alone or bring their teen-agers.

"A Touch of Elegance - Create a Flower Centerpiece for Your Holiday Table" for adults at 1 p.m. Nov. 8. Gail Slane from Forever Flowers will offer tips, ideas and techniques on creating holiday centerpieces at a reasonable cost. Registration is required.

West Falls Christian schedules church events

West Falls Christian Community holds worship at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. every Sunday.

Sunday school for all ages is held at 10:30 a.m.

Prayer meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. Mondays. Two Bible studies are available from 7:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays. Participants may study the Book of Romans, or a young adult/new Christian study using New Christian Handbook: Everything New Believers Need to Know.

The Men's Ministry is studying "Maximized Manhood" and the Women's Ministry, "A Renewed Heart," at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays. All men are welcome to the workshops on "Maximized Manhood," designed to deal with men's issues and help develop better husbands, fathers and spiritual leaders.

The church offers Celebrate Recovery, a 12-step recovery program for those seeking help and freedom from various addictions and negative behavioral patterns. Meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. every Friday at the church.
