October 29, 2003

A 20-year-old Westminster man was arrested yesterday and charged with twice robbing the Westminster Inn bed-and-breakfast of about $350 at knifepoint, police said.

Marlin Brandon Reed of the 100 block of E. Main St. was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of robbery, two counts of theft less than $500, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment, according to Westminster police.

Westminster police said they found two large kitchen knives with black handles and a gray sweat shirt during a search of Reed's apartment yesterday morning. Police also found $76.97 that matched the denominations taken during the most recent robbery at the inn on South Center Street, which occurred about 9:10 p.m. Monday.

The first robbery occurred at 2:18 a.m. Sept. 29, when a man wearing a ski mask pulled out a large kitchen knife with a black handle and demanded money, police said. The man who robbed the inn the second time was wearing a gray sweat shirt, police said.
