More than 3 inches of rain recorded at BWI

October 28, 2003

The heaviest rains in months of soggy weather soaked the Baltimore area late Sunday and yesterday, with more than 3 inches reported at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.

Ushered in by an early-morning rattle of thunder, 2 to 3 inches also fell in parts of the city and in Baltimore, Carroll and Howard counties between 9 p.m. Sunday and midafternoon. Stream flow yesterday broke daily records in an arc from Cecil County through Harford, Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery counties.

It was the wettest stretch of weather at BWI since June - and dropped more rain than Tropical Storm Isabel. Precipitation this year has surpassed the annual average at BWI by more than 6 inches.
