Cora Pearl Sitler, 82, special-education teacher

Cora Pearl Sitler, a retired special-education teacher in the Anne Arundel County public school system, died Friday at St. Joseph Medical Center in Reading, Pa., after suffering a stroke. The Brooklyn Park resident was 82.

Born and raised in Bloomsburg, Pa., Cora Wintersteen was a 1938 graduate of Bloomsburg High School. She attended Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa., and the University of Maryland, her family said.

She taught in Anne Arundel from the late 1960s until her retirement in 1985.

She and her husband, Robert L. Sitler, subsequently started a courier service, BPAC Air Freight Co., which they ran from their home.

Her husband died Oct. 12. The couple had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary July 30 and were longtime members of St. Stephen Lutheran Church on Wilkens Avenue.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Dean W. Kriner Funeral Home in Bloomsburg.

Mrs. Sitler is survived by a daughter, Robbie Lee Eckenrode of Reading, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
