THOMAS A NEWSOME; a devoted husband and beloved father, died Thursday, October 23, 2003, at his residence in Martinsburg, WV. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Louis Samuel Newsome and Lucille Thomas Newsome Long. He had served in the US Navy during WWII in the North African Theater and also in England. He was a member of the VFW and was a Master Mason with the Quality Lodge #44. Mr. Newsome started his own business, Tan-Co., in 1975. Since his marriage to Carole in 1988, they have run the business together. He is survived by his wife, Carole Horn Newsome; one son, Kent T. Newsome of Forest Hill, MD; two daughters, Lynn Riley of Forest Hill, MD, Dale Virginia Wheatley of Ellicott City, MD; two step-daughters, Lori A. Perkins of Ashburn, VA and Lisa E. Perkins of Herndon, VA; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Colin, and Thomas J. Wheatley; Ian, Shane. Megan, and Dillon Newsome; one sister, Anne Scannell of Timonium, MD; one half-brother, Richard Newsome and one half-sister, Sally Newsome, both of Chestertown, MD. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2003 at 1:00PM at the Hedgesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Terri S. Cofiell officiating. Interment will be private. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, Mid-Atlantic Division, Inc., Berkeley Unit, P.O. Box 873, Charlestown, WV 25323-8073. Arrangements by Brown Funeral Home.
