Betty E. Seybert, 82, kindergarten teacher

Betty E. Seybert, a former Lutherville resident and church school kindergarten teacher, died of congestive heart failure Sunday at her home in Shrewsbury, Pa. She was 82.

She was born Betty Elaine Riley in Philadelphia and raised in Yeadon, Pa. She later earned a teaching certificate from what is now Towson University.

In 1943, she married Earl Kleckner Seybert. Her husband, former technical director for the Davison Chemical Co., died in 1991.

From 1962 until retiring in 1977, Mrs. Seybert taught kindergarten at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lutherville.

Mrs. Seybert, who had lived in Shrewsbury since 1980, enjoyed wood carving, and specialized in birds, ducks and other animals. She also liked painting landscapes, still-life scenes and animals in oils.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home in Berwick, Pa.

Her survivors include two daughters, Gail L. Stanton of Burtonsville and Linda E. Kyper of Columbia, and a grandson.
