Wilde Lake High Boosters Club plans a fund-raiser tomorrow

In honor of Homecoming Week, the Wilde Lake Boosters Club will sponsor a fund-raiser, "Uno's Night," from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Uno's Chicago Bar & Grill in Long Gate Shopping Center.

A percentage of each purchase will go to the boosters club. Coupons, which must be submitted when orders are placed, are available from students or from anyone in the school's front office. The proceeds will help pay for uniforms, competitions and other extracurricular activities.

Wilde Lake High School's homecoming is Saturday. The football game with Gwynn Park High School is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. A parade is scheduled at noon at the school. A Hall of Fame, when Wilde Lake alumni athletes will be honored, is also planned.

Fireside Chat scheduled tomorrow at Bain center

The Howard County Department of Citizen Services' Office on Aging will sponsor a Fireside Chat -- "Creative Expression From the Inside Out!" -- from 10:30 a.m. to noon tomorrow at Florence Bain Senior Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way.

Barbara Scher, community service representative of Home Instead Senior Care, will talk about incorporating creative expression into daily life.

New sessions of yoga set to start at Slayton House

Kat Kelly-Chung will start new sessions of yoga for beginners and senior citizens at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center.

The class for seniors, ages 50 and older, will be offered from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays, starting next week. The cost is $78 for six weeks; $15 a class to drop in.

The beginners class for adults, ages 18 and older, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, starting Nov. 6. The cost is $90 for six weeks; $17 to drop in.

Both classes are taught in the Iyengar yoga style, using poses, breath and meditation. Registration is required.

Internet basics for seniors to begin at library Nov. 4

The central library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, will offer small group sessions of "Surfing Basics for Seniors" for those who are interested in learning to use the Internet. The next session will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 4.

Cleanup: Wilde Lake residents are invited to help clean open-space areas, street gutters and storm drains as part of Columbia Cleans Day on Saturday. Participants can pick up trash bags at Slayton House. They will also receive juice, doughnuts and a free gift at 9 a.m. 410-730- 3987.
