County to lend $400,000 for new Harney firetruck

October 22, 2003|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

The Carroll commissioners voted yesterday to lend the Harney Volunteer Fire Company $400,000 to help the department buy a tanker truck.

The company's water tanker is more than 20 years old, said Eugene Curfman, county finance director. The county will sell bonds to raise the money, and the interest rate on the fire company's loan will be the same as the interest rate on the bonds, he said.
