Joint service to mark church's 150 years

The Lazarus United Church of Christ and Lazarus Lutheran congregations will hold a joint worship to celebrate the church's 150th anniversary at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

The day's worship services are to follow the 19th-century old order of service. Preparation for Holy Communion and how people worshiped in the 19th century will be discussed at 9 a.m. and in Sunday school. At 9:30 a.m., 19th century-style refreshments will be served. The service will begin at 10 a.m. Those wishing to may dress in period costume.

Manchester firefighters plan all-night bingo

The Manchester Volunteer Fire Department will hold an all-night cash bingo Nov. 7 at the Firemen's Activities Building on York Street.

Doors open at 5 p.m., with a buffet served at 6 p.m. Games begin at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 and include dinner and a card package for 80 games. Jackpot cards and extra packages will be available for sale at the door.

Library offers book club, story times, art program

The North Carroll library branch, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

Family Story Time for all ages (children ages 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and 10 a.m. Thursdays.

"Evening Family Story Time - Giants" for all ages (children ages 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 6:45 p.m. today.

"Homeschoolers Hour - Art Smart II" for ages 7 to 10 at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow for a literature-based educational program. Children will examine art found in books.

"Art Smart: Art Smart Two" for ages 7 to 10 at 6:45 p.m. Thursday. Children will discuss art found in books, pick their favorites and create art projects from them.

The North Carroll Book Club for adults at 6:30 p.m. Monday will discuss Good Poems, edited by Garrison Keillor.

Hampstead will award pair of $1,000 scholarships

The town of Hampstead will offer two $1,000 scholarships this year to graduating seniors at North Carroll High School.

Applications are available at the school and town office, 1034 S. Carroll St. Applicants must live in the town limits.

Manchester Elementary: The Student Council will meet at 3 p.m. today. The PTA will sponsor Spanish II classes from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today, Oct. 29, and Nov. 5, 12 and 19 in the media center and art room.
