Carrabba's supplying food for fund-raiser for Mayer center

Carrabba's Italian Grill of Ellicott City will offer its support to the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource and Image Center by supplying food for its fund-raiser, scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at The Fretz Corp. designer showroom.

Fretz, a wholesale distributor of high-end kitchen appliances in the Baltimore-Washington, Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey markets, has opened a Columbia showroom, with equipment displayed in working kitchen settings. The showroom, at 9204 Berger Road, Suite H, includes a cooking studio; cooking demonstrations will be part of the fund-raiser.

The menu will include shrimp scampi, bruschetta Carrabba, Caesar salad, chicken Marsala, penne pomodoro, spiedino di mare, sausage and peppers, and sogno di cioccolata.

Tina Broccolino and Petty Buescher, members of the Mayer center advisory board, are co-chairs of the event. Business attire is requested.

Tickets are $50. Sponsorship opportunities range from $500 to $5,000.

Chamber of Commerce breakfast set Thursday

The Howard County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Power Networking Breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday at ExploraWorld, 6570 Dobbin Road, Columbia.

Each business will have an opportunity to make a 30-second presentation. Audience members interested in further information or services will offer their business cards. The event is open to the public.

The cost is $15 for members; $30 for guests and prospective members. Reservations are required.

The Howard County Chamber, in partnership with Howard Community College, will hold the Howard Community College Fall Job/Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Galleria of the Science and Technology Building, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia.

Businesses and organizations can speak with and identify students, alumni and members of the community seeking career or business opportunities.
