INSIDE SLANT
George Kokinis, the Ravens' pro personnel director, sizes up the Bengals:
Strength of offense
Receiving corps. Chad Johnson has publicly said no one can cover him, so we're going to try our best. This offseason, the light came on for Johnson, who studied routes and coverages. Peter Warrick has stepped up his game, and his production is matching his potential. He's playing with confidence and is starting to develop those eyes all around his head that he had in college. The rookie, Kelley Washington, is big and fast and has converted first downs on four of his six catches. He's been playing as the third wide-out since T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been hurt.
Strength of defense
Marvin Lewis' scheme. You don't know where the blitz is coming from, and that puts a lot of pressure on the offensive line. They give a dual decision for the offensive line by incorporating their line and their linebackers. I think there are a lot of similarities to what the Ravens did when Lewis was here. They have six sacks in their past two games.
Key matchup
Ravens right tackle Orlando Brown vs. Bengals defensive end Duane Clemons. The Bengals' sack leader is a long-armed, tall, active pass rusher who is used on stunts. He does a lot of moves with his hands and has a good counter move. He has improved his game after being stagnant the past few seasons with Kansas City.
