Make it 9-for-9 in Anne Arundel County field hockey championship games and 25 county titles overall in 26 years for Severna Park coach Lil Shelton.

Last night in Edgewater on No. 5 South River's Bermuda grass field, the No. 3 Falcons won the Anne Arundel championship, 2-1, over the Seahawks to give Shelton her Maryland- record 400th win.

"I didn't want that [No. 400] to detract from the girls' game," said Shelton, who started Anne Arundel's first field hockey team in 1975, won the first county championship in 1978 and has since failed to win it only in 1985.

All the scoring came in the first half with juniors Abbi Horn scoring the first goal from Kellie West for the Falcons (13-1). Horn then assisted on junior Sam Price's game-winner.

Price's goal came with 11 minutes left in the first half and followed Liz Angevine's goal that tied the game for South River (12-1) seven minutes in.

Dee Crovo, the Falcons' junior goalie, made eight saves, none bigger than her kick-save as the Hawks swarmed the goal with time running out.
