The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association field hockey championships, scheduled for Nov. 8, will be played on a turf field for the first time when it moves to the University of Maryland's field hockey and lacrosse complex.

The schedule will be: Class 2A at 11 a.m.; 3A at 1 p.m.; 1A at 4 p.m.; and 4A at 6 p.m.

Concern over field conditions necessitated officials at Goucher College, the longtime site, to turn down hosting the event. The new site is located next to Comcast Center.

"We're excited about playing at Maryland," said Ned Sparks, executive director of the MPSSAA. "If you have ever seen field hockey played on turf, I'm sure you will agree that [turf] was made for the game."

The state semifinals will be played on Bermuda grass on Nov. 3 and Nov. 5 at Centennial, Wilde Lake, Glen Burnie and Severna Park.
