Little ghouls and goblins are invited to the frighteningly fun ZooBOOO! event at the Baltimore Zoo this weekend and next weekend. The zoo calls it the "Halloween Spooktacular." And more than just a celebration of the haunted holiday, ZooBOOO! is also a celebration of the fall season.

Visitors are encouraged to come in costume, as there'll be a costume contest at 1 p.m. all four days.

All visitors will enjoy trick-or-treating throughout the zoo, creepy crafts, ghoulish games, live entertainment, train rides and more.

Want to learn about the zoo's wildest creatures? Watch a Halloween-themed Keeper Encounters presentation each day.

In the Waterfowl Lake area, live entertainment will run each day. The Kindersingers perform at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. both Sundays, the Jokesters do their schtick at 11 a.m. both Saturdays, Ickity Bickity Boo performs at noon all four days, and Mr. Sing-a-Book gets the crowd vocal at 2:30 p.m. both Saturdays.

The ZOOmobile staff will present educational programs at 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. each day in the Waterfowl Lake area.

In Safari Square, adventurous visitors can attempt the Climbing Wall or Jacob's Ladder.

In the Children's Zoo Farmyard and Village Green, younger visitors can ride the Boo!Choo Train, figure out the Tugger Air Maze, explore the Haunted Barn and ride the carousel.

And in the Tiger Plaza, there'll be a photo station for creepy picture-taking, fake tattoos and face painting, a Pumpkin Masquerade craft event, a Pumpkin Patch Pick, entertainment with Flip the Spider, coloring, fun with the Spiders' Web Velcro Wall, Animal Ambassadors programs and more.

And there'll be puppet shows in the Meeting Barn each day at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.

Strolling magicians, jugglers, stilt-walkers and fire-eaters will make their way throughout the zoo. And area mascots and characters will rove around, as well.

ZooBOOO! runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Oct. 25 and 26 at the Baltimore Zoo, Druid Hill Park. Regular zoo hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. Admission is $11; $9 seniors; $7 ages 2-11; free for ages under 2. Call 410-366-LION or visit www. baltimorezoo.org for more information.
