Kraus advances in Mid-Amateur

Andrea Kraus of Pikesville shot an 80 for a 36-hole total of 156, and was one of four players with Middle Atlantic ties to qualify for match play in the 17th U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur championship at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C., yesterday.

Sally Krueger, a former Women's State Amateur champion now living in San Francisco, and Lesley Stracks, who plays from Redgate Golf Club in Rockville, each posted 36-hole totals of 155, and were joined by Lisa Schlesinger, of Laytonsville, at 158.

Mid-Amateur: Matt Sughrue, of Alexandria, Va., and Bethesda Country Club, was at 148 and in a 14-for-10 morning playoff for places in today's match-play draw at Wilmington Country Club.
