Democratic club panel discussion planned tomorrow

The Carroll County Democratic Club will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Frisco Family Pub in Carroll Plaza Shopping Center on Englar Road, Westminster.

A panel discussion on "Why are we Democrats?" will be held.

The club's membership runs from July 1 to June 30. Dues are $10 a person or $20 a family and due now.

Government, libraries to close for Columbus Day

Carroll County government offices will be closed tomorrow for Columbus Day.

Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Northern Landfill and the recycling center will be open.

Carroll County senior centers will be closed. Public libraries and schools will be open.

Family center to offer trip to pumpkin patch

The Carroll County Family Center will offer activities for member families this month.

The center will be closed tomorrow for Columbus Day.

The fall trip to a pumpkin patch will be from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 21. Parents and children will ride in a hay wagon to pick out a pumpkin to take home. The group will stop for lunch in Watkins Park. The cost is $5 a family. Registration is required for all programs.

The Halloween costume parade through the building will be Oct. 30. Parents and children are encouraged to dress up. Breakfast is at 9 a.m., followed by the parade and a book selection. Sign-up is requested so agencies know how many to expect.

The Family Center is at 10 Distillery Drive, Westminster.
