Civic group in N. Laurel meets Oct. 21

The North Laurel Civic Association will hold a general membership meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at Laurel Woods Elementary School. Discussion will focus on "Creating Safer and Better Neighborhoods: Ideas to Empower Residents."

Police Officer Rocco Sovero and Donna Thewes, Howard Police Department community liaison and treasurer of the civic association, will discuss programs and resources that can help communities and individuals preserve existing assets and improve their neighborhoods.

Hammond Middle to hold PTA garage sale tomorrow

The Hammond Middle School Parent Teacher Association will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow at the school, 8110 Aladdin Drive, North Laurel.

The rain date is from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Proceeds will help support PTA activities.

Ladies Auxiliary slates basket bingo at fire hall

The Ladies Auxiliary of Savage Volunteer Fire Company will sponsor basket bingo Oct. 18 at the fire hall, 89225 Lincoln St. Games start at 7 p.m. The doors and the kitchen open at 5 p.m.

Admission is $15 in advance; $17 at the door. Twenty games and door prizes are included. Prizes include a variety of baskets.

Raffles are also planned.

Auditions: Young Artists Theatre in the Cherry Tree Center, at U.S. 29 and Route 216, Scaggsville, is holding auditions for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5 to 18, for a new musical comedy, Holiday U.S.A. Vendors sought: Artists and artisans are invited to apply to show and sell their work at South Laurel Recreation Council's 28th Holiday Craft Fair.
