Mildred Elizabeth Nuse, 86, homemaker

Mildred Elizabeth Nuse, a homemaker and former Westview resident, died of cancer Monday at Solomons Nursing Center in Solomons. She was 86.

Born Mildred Elizabeth Matthias in Baltimore, she was raised on Elbert Street and attended St. Joseph Monastery Parochial School.

She worked at Fuller Brush Co. in downtown Baltimore before moving to Solomons in 1967.

She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Solomons. She also belonged to the American Legion and was a charter member of the Solomons Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Auxiliary.

Her husband of 35 years, Lawrence I. Nuse Sr., a Bethlehem Steel worker, died in 1981.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Rausch Funeral Home in Port Republic.

Survivors include a son, Lawrence I. Nuse Jr. of Lusby; and two sisters, Elaine Kestler of Charlestown, W.Va., and Shirley Blackburn of Orange Park, Fla.
