Hampstead Public Works Department will flush area hydrants at 9 p.m. today.

Flushing stirs sediment in the lines, causing water discoloration. Residents should run their taps until water is clear.

Square dance planned Sunday in Hampstead

Carroll Promenaders, a local modern western square dance club, will hold a Fall Fest square dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at North Carroll High School.

The cost is $4. Youths are welcome. The level is MS/PS with 2X2 rounds. Doren McBroom is caller and "Just Tim" Pilachowski is cuer.

Bulk trash pickup set Oct. 18 in Hampstead

Hampstead will hold a bulk trash pickup day Oct. 18.

Residents should place bulk items curbside for collection.

St. John's church to hold holiday bazaar Nov. 1

St. John's United Methodist Church women will hold their 22nd annual "Christmas at the Church" holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in the church social hall and education building.

The bazaar will feature crafts, a silent auction, baked goods and mixes for soups, teas, dips and cookies. Space is available for craft vendors.

North Carroll library offers story times

North Carroll library branch, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, will offer:

Family Story Time for all ages (age 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday and 10 a.m. every Thursday.

"Evening Family Story Time - Bears, Oh My!" for all ages (age 3 and younger must be with an adult) at 6:45 p.m. today.

"Introduction to Windows and Word" for adults at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. tomorrow. Registration is required.

"Introduction to the Internet" for adults at 10 a.m. Saturday.

North Carroll Book Discussion Group for ages 9 to 12 at 6:45 p.m. Monday.. Takeoffs and Landings by Margaret Peterson Haddix will be discussed.

"American Girls Night" for ages 7 to 10 at 6:45 Oct. 16. Stories, theater presentations and crafts will be featured. Children can take their dolls or dress up if they wish.

Hampstead Lions Club is selling discount books

Hampstead Lions Club is selling 2004 Entertainment Books for $26.

The books can be used through Nov. 1, 2004. They contain discounts for restaurants, sports events, entertainment, lodging and travel.

Proceeds will go to Hampstead Volunteer Fire Company toward the purchase of a new brush truck.
