Women's Expo to be held Nov. 22 in Columbia

Moms Inc., a networking group for mothers with home-based business, will hold a Women's Expo, featuring services and products to make women's lives easier, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 22 at Kahler Hall in Harper's Choice Village Center, Columbia.

Twenty speakers will discuss finances, balancing family and work, and other issues. Speakers will include Ginny Robertson, founder and president of On Purpose; Barbara Camens and Tamara Kreinin, authors of Girls' Night Out: Celebrating Women's Groups Across America, and Helene Brenner, author of I Know I'm in There Somewhere: A Woman's Guide to Finding Her Inner Voice and Living a Life of Authenticity.

Door prizes, sitting massages and refreshments are also planned. Members of Moms Inc. will offer goods and services.

ExploraWorld, schools reach partnership pact

ExploraWorld of Columbia and the Howard County school system signed an educational partnership declaration Sept. 25 with a goal to foster learning through play in a safe environment for all children.

The children's learning and entertainment facility will offer events to encourage awareness of safety, discounted field trips, speakers, initiatives to support families in need and opportunities for students to create and display work.

The school system will acknowledge its contributions by providing complimentary tickets to school events, mention in school publications and designation of the company's employees as volunteer adjunct faculty.

Chamber luncheon: Howard County Chamber of Commerce will hold its General Member Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel, 10207 Wincopin Circle, Columbia. The theme is "Measure Up: The State of the Chamber and Business Update." The event, which will focus on the state of the economy and opportunities for business growth in the region, is open to the public. Paying for health: Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will present a seminar on health insurance in Maryland from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Anne Arundel Community College campus at Arundel Mills Mall. Speakers will focus on managing and reducing employer health insurance costs. The cost is $20 in advance for chamber members; $30 at the door and for nonmembers. Moms meet: Moms Inc., formerly Bizymoms of Columbia, will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Donna's Restaurant, 5809 Clarksville Square Drive, Clarksville. The networking group meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the restaurant. 410-715-0659.
