Bingo, dancing, massage offered at Savage Senior Center

The Savage Senior Center, 9525 Durness Lane, offers a variety of activities each week.

Bingo is played from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays, except the first Monday of the month.

A mill walk, for those who like to walk indoors, is held from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Historic Savage Mill.

Social line dancing is offered from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesdays.

A "Sit and Stitch" group meets from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Fridays. Members can participate in community service projects, work on their own or socialize.

Howard County General Hospital sponsors a 50-Plus Agewell Exercise class, combining aerobics and strength training, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $24 for 16 classes. And therapeutic massage is offered bimonthly, by appointment, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays.

Savage Historical Society to meet Oct. 20 at church

The Savage Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at Savage United Methodist Church Faith & Ministry Center, 9032 Baltimore St.

The meeting is open to the public. Please enter through the side door, off Foundry Street.

Auditions set Oct. 13 for musical in Scaggsville

The Young Artists Theatre in the Cherry Tree Center, at U.S. 29 and Route 216, Scaggsville, is holding auditions for actors, singers and dancers, ages 5 to 18, for a new musical comedy Holiday U.S.A.

Auditions will be by appointment only from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 13. Performances are scheduled in December. There is a rehearsal fee for those who are cast.

Book clubs: The Savage branch library's Mystery Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the library, 9525 Durness Lane. The group will discuss Gaudy Night by Dorothy L. Sayers. A new book club, the Third Wednesdays Book Club, will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 15. The group will read an eclectic mix of issues-oriented nonfiction and contemporary fiction.
