One of the two Sparrows Point High School students injured when their car collided with a tractor-trailer Wednesday has died, while the second student remains in critical condition, Baltimore County police said yesterday.

Adam M. Parr, 17, of the 7300 block of Geise Ave., was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, said Officer Shawn Vinson, a police spokesman.

The other injured student, Zachary T. Bradley, 17, of the 2100 block of Lodge Forest Drive, was listed in "nonresponsive critical condition" yesterday afternoon, Vinson said.

After taking college-credit courses at the Community College of Baltimore County, the two student-athletes were returning to Sparrows Point High just after noon Wednesday when their car collided with a tractor-trailer at Bethlehem Boulevard and Wharf Road.

The car skidded under the truck and its top was torn off.

Vinson said the crash is being investigated.

School officials said Bradley plays on the varsity golf and baseball teams. Parr was on the varsity soccer team.

Robert J. Kemmery, executive director of southeast area schools, said Sparrows Point High canceled parent-teacher meetings scheduled last night as the tight-knit community copes with the news.

"It's such a small, close community - it's being felt throughout," Kemmery said.
