Hospital expands hours for blood donations
Anne Arundel Medical Center is seeking blood donors to ease its shortage.
The medical center's Blood Donor Center has expanded its hours for donor appointments:
Mondays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Tuesdays, 7:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m., with evening hours available by appointment.
Wednesdays, 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with evening hours available by appointment.
Thursdays, 7:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
Fridays, 7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Red Cross seeks help with area blood drives
The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help at blood drives. Volunteers assist donors and serve refreshments.
This program is open to people age 14 and older. Participation involves greeting donors and providing them with pertinent reading materials, serving refreshments and observing donors for post-donation reactions. Training will be provided. CPR, first aid courses offered by Red Cross
Courses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid have been scheduled at several sites in Anne Arundel County by Red Cross of Central Maryland. They include:
"Adult CPR," teaching emergency action principles, rescue breathing, anti-choking procedure and rescue for victims age 8 and older. The course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 18 at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 6922 Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie; from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 and 25 at Edgewater Red Cross, 3475 Pike Ridge Road, Edgewater; and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 7 at Edgewater.
