On September 13, MARJORIE STORY THOMASON, died at her home in Chevy Chase, MD at the age of 77. The daughter of J. Howard Story and Helen Story of Asbury Park, NJ, she graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1944, a classmate of her future husband of 57 years, Robert A. Thomason. From 1956 to 1967 she was active as a volunteer in the Head start and mental health programs in Baltimore and served in numerous voluntary roles at the Park School, of which Mr. Thomason was headmaster. In 1969 she co-founded the Lambert's Cove Inn on the Island of Martha's Vineyard and during the ensuing decade became widely known as a charming hostess and an extraordinary chef. Her keen wit and impeccable taste, her artist's eye, and her passion for antiques created an ambiance that brought guests back to the inn season after season. In the late 70's the Thomasons moved from Massachusetts to the Washington, DC area. Gregarious (tryly a"people-person"), empathetic, kind, thoughtful, and unassuming, Marge Thomason will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In addition to her husband she is survived by her sister, Marcia Braman of Baltimore, MD; her five children, James S. Thomason of Fairfax, VA, Dianne M. Thomason of Chevy Chase, MD, Anne Cavanagh of Bethesda, MD, Peter A. Thomason and John S. Thomason, both of Ypsilanti, MI; fifteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on September 20, 2003 at 1 P.M. at PUMPHREY'S BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE FUNERAL HOME, 7557 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, MD 20814.
