Johns Hopkins (0-0) at Rochester (0-0)

Site: Edwin Fauver Stadium, Rochester, N.Y.

Time: Noon

Series: Hopkins leads 2-0

Last week: Both teams were idle.

Outlook: Johns Hopkins is coming off the most successful season in school history. The Blue Jays played 11 games last season for the first time in more than 100 years. Today's game is the earliest football game in school history. Rochester is coming off a 2-8 season but features sophomore QB Pat Manuel, who threw for 1,979 yards and 15 touchdowns last season.

Bowie State (1-0) at Mansfield (0-0)

Site: Karl Van Norman Field, Mansfield, Pa.

Time: 1 p.m.

Series: First meeting

Last week: Bowie defeated West Virginia State, 27-7. Mansfield was idle.

Outlook: The Bulldogs are still a strong defensive force, opening the season last week by restricting West Virginia State to 25 yards rushing and intercepting three passes. Bowie second-year freshman QB Lamar Manigo didn't exactly distinguish himself in his debut with just 37 yards passing. But the big news for the Bulldogs was 100-yard rushing games from Caleb Cranke and Julius Jordan. Mansfield is coming off a 3-7 season in which three of the seven losses were by a total of eight points. The Mountaineers are led by NCAA Division II Linebacker of the Year Dan Holland and senior QB Travis Motley, who passed for 2,283 yards and 18 TDs last season.

Catholic (0-0) at Salisbury (0-0)

Site: Sea Gull Stadium, Salisbury

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio: WICO (1320 AM)

Series: Salisbury leads 3-2

Last week: Both teams were idle.

Outlook: There don't appear to be too many weaknesses in a Sea Gulls team that features a ball-control offense behind sophomore QB Dustin Johnson (109.4 yards rushing a game), the leading Division III rusher among quarterbacks in the nation last year, and senior TE Kyle Acker. The defense features eight returning starters from a squad that limited opponents to 98.3 yards rushing a game. Catholic is coming off a 4-6 season, but returns junior WR Nick Bublavi who caught 62 passes last year, including 14 TD receptions.

McDaniel (0-0) at Bridgewater (0-0)

Site: Jopson Field, Bridgewater, Va.

Time: 1 p.m.

Radio: WTTR (1470 AM)

Series: McDaniel leads 14-8-1

Last week: Both teams were idle.

Outlook: Bridgewater has ruined opening day three straight years for the Green Terror. This is the first time in six years McDaniel has not been ranked in any preseason Division III football polls. Bridgewater, which is ranked no lower than 14th in five preseason polls, including No. 5 in Lindy's poll.

Morgan State (1-0) at Florida A&M (0-1)

Site: Bragg Memorial Stadium, Tallahassee, Fla.

Time: 7 p.m.

Radio: WEAA (88.9 FM)

Series: Florida A&M leads 15-4

Last week: Morgan defeated Towson, 19-16; Florida A&M lost to Alabama State, 38-22.

Outlook: After putting a dent last Saturday night in Towson's recent domination of their rivalry, the Bears tackle a Rattlers team that has been approved for Division 1-A status next season. That makes FAMU ineligible to compete for the 1-AA Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship this season, even though it will play a conference schedule. It will be a good opportunity for Morgan to see how it stacks up against a team that will open next season against Illinois and Oklahoma.

Lock Haven (0-0) at Towson (0-1)

Site: Minnegan Field at Towson Stadium

Time: 7 p.m.

Radio: WTMD (89.7 FM)

Series: First meeting

Last week: Towson lost to Morgan, 19-16. Lock Haven was idle.

Outlook: The Tigers will be meeting a Division II school for the first time in eight years. They have lost three straight dating to last season, and Lock Haven ended last season with four straight losses. Towson's offensive line was guilty of several key breakdowns in the loss to Morgan, resulting in a disappointing performance by QB Jay Amer and the offense. The Bald Eagles feature a veteran defense led by All-America DB Rob Carey and LB Derrik Metz.
