A 47-year-old man was killed in Harford County yesterday when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a guardrail, state police reported.

Dean Jeffrey Herbert of Delta, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from his 1981 Kawasaki. Police said he was riding south on Priestford Road at Cool Spring Road in Darlington about 3:30 p.m. when he lost control and hit the rail.

Herbert, who had formerly resided in Bel Air, was wearing a helmet, police said.

The accident remained under investigation, police said.
