ZIP Publishing starting new paper, a weekly, in county
ZIP Publishing of Ellicott City will start a new weekly newspaper, The View From Western Howard County, on Friday.
Twelve-thousand copies will be delivered to homes and businesses in Clarksville, Cooksville, Dayton, Glenwood, Glenelg, Lisbon, Marriottsville, Mount Airy, River Hill, West Friendship, Woodbine and Woodstock, increasing ZIP's total distribution in the county to 44,000.
The new paper will be the second weekly on ZIP's list of publications. The company's first weekly, The View from Ellicott City, was started in 1997. ZIP also publishes two monthlies - The View from Elkridge/Hanover and The View from Catonsville - and an annual Ellicott City visitor's guide.
Hospice staff members getting sessions at spa
Columbia-based Farashe, The Day Spa will offer spa sessions tomorrow to six staff members of Hospice of Howard County. The spa's owners, Ranjana Bhasin and Nanousa Sidhu, extended the offer as an expression of appreciation for the hospice's 25-year contribution to the community.
The six staff members to receive the gift will represent the six members of a hospice team: a chaplain, nurse, social worker, bereavement counselor, home health aide and volunteer.
Business basics workshop slated at Towson church
The greater Baltimore chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives will offer a business basics workshop, "Understanding Business: Starting, Managing, Prospering," from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 13, 14, 20 and 21 at Towson United Methodist Church, Towson.
Topics will include business plans, financing and management as well as legal, marketing and other business issues. Those who complete all four sessions will receive a certificate.
