2001 Francis Coppola Black Label Claret ($17). Cabernet-sauvignon flavors predominate in this supple, fruity Bordeaux-style blend, which also includes merlot, cabernet franc and malbec. There's a fine interplay of fruit flavors - black cherry, black currant, blueberry and raspberry - as well as nuances of chocolate and vanilla. While it's not extraordinarily complex or built to age, it's immediately enjoyable and capable of holding for three to five years. It should pair well with grilled red meat or pork. Director Francis Ford Coppola, by the way, has created much more than a celebrity winery here. It's a reliable source of good wine.
