Elaine I. Winston, 86, homemaker, theatergoer

Elaine I. Winston, a homemaker who was an avid theatergoer and film buff, died Saturday at Sinai Hospital of complications from bladder surgery. The longtime Pikesville resident was 86.

Born Elaine Mann Iglo in Cincinnati, she was raised in Washington and Baltimore and graduated from Western High School.

Her lifelong passion for the theater began as a 6-year-old when she attended her first show. Until her death, Mrs. Winston regularly attended productions at the Mechanic, Center Stage and Everyman theaters. She also enjoyed going to the movies and performances of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs. Winston was a member of the Suburban Club, where she regularly played bridge and dined with family and friends.

She was a member of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation.

She was married for 23 years to Harold Hecht Levi Jr., a Hecht Co. employee who died in 1958. In 1966, she married Herman Winston, owner of Security Fur Service, who died in 1991.

Services were held Monday.

She is survived by three sons, Harold H. Levi III of Armonk, N.Y., Douglas R. Levi of Baltimore and Michael H. Levi of Atlanta; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
