Deputy promoted to serve as director of county finance

Howard County's deputy director of finance will be promoted to fill the job of her boss, who is retiring after 24 years with the local government, officials announced this week.

Sharon Greisz, who will lead the 51-employee department starting Tuesday, has 22 years of experience in finance. She began working in Howard County in 1983 as an assistant county auditor and has been deputy director of finance since 2000.

Dale Neubert, the retiring director, joined the department in 1979 as chief accountant, was named deputy director in 1987 and moved to the top job in 1995. She was president of the Maryland Government Finance Officers Association from 2001 to last year.
