Matt Rewkowski, an All-Atlantic Coast Conference attackman who led Duke in goals and points this spring, plans to transfer to Johns Hopkins and play lacrosse for the Blue Jays next season.

A 6-foot, 190-pound sophomore from Bethpage, N.Y., who compiled 36 goals and 11 assists this year, Rewkowski will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. He leaves a program that did not make the NCAA tournament for one that returns seven starters from the team that reached the championship game last month.

"Hopkins was in the running when I made my initial college decision," Rewkowski said. "This will be a better situation, as far as my parents getting to games. I want to get to a final four and win a national championship and this looks like a good opportunity. The last two years have been a great experience, but as far as lacrosse is concerned, Hopkins is better suited for me."

The Blue Jays return a number of strong offensive players, but Bobby Benson, their top goal-scorer, graduated.
