Glen Burnie man killed while crossing road

A Glen Burnie man was killed late Monday as he tried to cross Ritchie Highway near Route 648, Anne Arundel County police said.

William Henry Marsh Jr., 47, of the 100 block of Poplar Ave. was struck by a southbound 1998 Chevy Blazer about 9:15 p.m., police said. The Blazer's driver, Kristine Leigh Hartzell, 27, of the 100 block of Cottage Grove Drive in Pasadena, was not injured.

Minutes before the accident, witnesses saw the man leave a shopping area and walk onto Ritchie Highway, and they yelled for him to get out of the road, police said. The preliminary cause of the crash was listed as pedestrian error.
